Major Rule Change Announced

News has been leaked from the UKBGF of a rule change in backgammon.

UKBGF chair Roland Hitt-Blotts is rumoured to be announcing in coming days the addition of a controversial ‘third dice’ rule.

In test scenarios the third dice rule has given players the option of rolling a third dice once at any point during a match which allows them to tactically move their opponents checkers.

Mr Hitt-Blotts said “the change gives the player the opportunity to turn the opponents game around. The possibilities are endless to ruin their carefully laid plans in your favour. This can only be good for the game.”

The third dice will be played similar to the doubling cube, bring rolled before your own dice – potentially allowing the player to take extra checkers on to the bar during their turn.

The updated rule book has been leaked and can be viewed here
